Learn To Ride-Charlotte @ Arbor Glen Rec Center
Oct 19 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

**Event Disclaimer: not our event, yet we fully support this awesome opportunity in how to, “Learn To Ride” . Just tell ’em the Bikin’ Dads Adventures crew sent ya!

It’s never too early (or too late!) learn to ride a two-wheeler! Kids of all ages and grown-ups, too, can Learn to Ride a bike using the tried-and-true “balance bike” method. It’s easy, it’s fun, and it’s a skill that will last a lifetime! Join the fun, and this FREE opportunity to Learn to Ride!

Learn to Ride is a not-for-profit, 100% volunteer series of events to grow Charlotte’s cycling community one new cyclist at a time. Learn to Ride is made possible in partnership with Bicycle Sport and Trips for Kids Charlotte, with support from Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, Mecklenburg County Public Health, and well-run media + marketing.

The event is geared to kids (of all ages!) and parents of kids, who want to learn to ride a bicycle without training wheels. Parents should bring their kids, their kids’ bikes and helmets. Don’t have a bike or helmet? Don’t worry – we have loaners! We’ll walk the soon-to-be-riders through the process, which is to sign in, check bike and helmet fit, remove training wheels and pedals, and lower the seat so the rider can stand comfortably over the bike. When the time’s right, we’ll reinstall the pedals – and turn this “balancing act” into practice with the pedals in motion!

No advance sign ups are necessary – just show up ready to have fun!

Red Bull Whip Off & Enduro @ Cedar Valley Bike Park at Fisher Farms Park
Oct 26 @ 11:00 am – 9:00 pm

**Not our event, but stoked to bring portions of our Rad Little Rodeo this inaugural concept for our area. Come out, support the trail gnomes, play some bike games, giggle at those attempting their version of a “whip off” and well, we’ll be there too. There is also the smooth & most scenic asphalted green-way for those not interested in the trails & dirt.

“We are doing up the year-end party big this year! We will start the day off with a 3 stage endure race with 4 classes. U16  / Women /  Men’s open / Men’s elite. After that we will move into the whip-off contest, same class format.  From there we will follow up with the Bike Derby, 3 Wheeler Race and Huck to Flat contest!  This event is free and open to everyone.  $10 gets you in both the enduro race and whip off contest and all race/contest proceeds go towards CVBP progressive jump lines. Everything else will be free. Please bring cash for day of only registration. Events start at 11am.

We will also do raffles for both the Dirt Divas Project Angel and the Tarheel TrailBlazers Trail Funds to build more trail like CVBP.

Most of all, this is a great time to get out and ride bikes, have fun and party down! We’ll have food trucks on site. More details to come soon.  Thanks and look forward to seeing everyone!”

Greenway Classic MTB Adventure @ Anne Springs Close Greenway
Dec 14 – Dec 15 all-day

Join MTB enthusiast December 14 & 15 for our rescheduled Green-way Classic Mountain Bike Adventure! Compete for first place in individual events AND/OR go for the ultimate challenge and test of grit and compete for title of ULTIMATE CLASSIC CHAMPION (UCC).

While we will have your typical categories for each event and events can be won individually, the UCC winners (open male, open female, master’s 40+) are the people who do best over the course of the weekend in all events.

Friday

The weekend kicks off Friday evening with a twilight short track, with categories ranging from junior to expert. The overall winner of this event (of those competing for the UCC title) will get two minutes knocked off their Saturday event time. Each person below that will get five less seconds until there is no time left.

Saturday (event 2)

On to the main event! Saturday morning will kick off with a grueling 50-miler (4 laps) with a twist, for the first time ever, competitors will be able to ride non-mountain bike trails at the Greenway. This means be prepared to rough it through horse trails (potentially carrying your bike at times), up stairs, and over bridges. There will be no pre riding the course and we will not reveal the course map until the Friday of the race – this is not for the faint of heart. Again, this event will have individual category winners but will also count toward UCC status.

On Saturday evening as we wrap up the racing and the band starts warming up (the amazing Todd Johnson and the Revolvers) there will be an opportunity to knock some seconds off your overall time through a variety of goofy mini-competitions. Every mini-competition will allow the top three finishers to knock off a few extra seconds on their overall time. This is a spectator sport and we strongly encourage cheering, heckling and commentary!

Food trucks, a cooling area (filled with slip n slide, ice baths, outdoor showers), plus music, beer, cornhole and more will be available throughout the weekend. Camping will be available both Friday and Saturday night so bring your whole family and come prepared to tackle the Greenway Classic.

Endurance Categories: male open, female open, juniors (under 18y.o.), male masters 40+, female masters 40+, single speed

Our Founders Getting Older Day @ Planet Earth
Dec 16 all-day

It’s our founder’s day of another year around the sun! Join us in celebrating him by hugging your kids, riding your bike, drinking an adult beverage & attempting to “Lead by Example”. If feeling extra rad, his one birthday wish would be, for you actually reading this to help this adventure. Be it high fives, hugs, handshakes, social media follows or shares, monetary donations, volunteer hours & even grant leads.

As the demands have grown more in our program, the other stuff has not and well, his goals are to continue the mission until he stops breathing. Let’s give him an extra umption in the gumption for 2020, you can simply donate directly through our page or reach out and let us know your thoughts. We are a 501(c)3 and your contributions are tax deductible. Whoever say’s non-profit life is easy…..they are NOT doing it right & that’s a fact, Jack!

Game Day @ The Basement Arcade
Jan 11 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Yea, we’re all about the outside life & the #adventures that come with it. In fact, if you have attended our events in the past, you’ve heard our founder say, “we want to be known more than bike stuff, though bikes just makes it more #rad” However, we attempt to be fully inclusive & attempt to appease the masses with multiple ways to stay awesome! Here’s one….the first organized outing in 2020:

Join us with the family or friends for a few hours of awesomeness at Concord’s own The Basement Arcade Bar! Games from “our” day & still at .25 to .50 cents, on top of some of the best local brews in a can or on tap. Even some fine sippin’ wine is available we’re told. Better yet, we’ll have some local fresh goodies on hand from our pals at Downtown Donuts so you can really get your carb’ on!

Free parking along Union Street & at the area parking deck. With multiple lunch options & eatery’s along the way. We hope to see you there….so whether the weather outside is nasty, we’ll be inside toasty.

Winter Short Track MTB Series Race 1 @ Renaissance Park Athletic Fields
Jan 19 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Coming back for another round is our crew of few rad Dad’s, their Grom’s & a most awesome MOM! We’ll be out HAVING FUN on our bikes in a variety of the available categories provided by the great folk at Start 2 Finish CHARLOTTE. If interested in rolling with the team, hit us up through our CONTACT Page, no bench warmers!

What is Winter Short Track Series?

The Team competition will consist of team members across all categories earning points. The points will be derived from a new system called “Pack Points”. Pack Points are based upon the number of people racing in your category, with a minimum of 10 points for the winner. The top six people from your team will be scored.
1st Place Team – $250 and Winners Trophy/ 2nd Place Team – $150/ 3rd Place Team – $100
The series awards will be handed out this Sunday after each respective race. It will take a little more time as each will need to be calculated. We will have a podium presentation for the top 5 overall in each category.
The short course brings a unique and fun style of racing to the Charlotte area – short-track mountain bike racing on a 3/4 mile trail with banked turns. It’s a cross between a criterium, BMX, cyclo-cross and single-track, super fast and spectator-friendly. Charlotte Sports Cycling and the Tarheel Trailblazers have worked hard to create a trail that’s exciting for the race participants and spectators. Participants, based on category, will race 15 to 25 laps on the fast course. All of the events will be held at Renaissance Park. We plan to have food, an event photographer, and music at all of the events.
